dental implants

Teeth replacement options with dental implants have become more routine as the technology has improved. The best way to assess if you are healthy enough for a dental implant is to come in for a free consultation with one of our dentists to go over your medical history together.

Age is not a restrictive factor for dental implant procedures. We have patients that range in age from their 20s to their 70s that have dental implants placed in our office. In fact, as we age, it is much more beneficial to keep the jawbone from shrinking by having dental implant therapy.

Dental implants are highly successful, however, dental implant failureis possible. Although uncommon, it occurs when bone does not grow against the implant. We always ensure you are healthy enough and have enough bone for a successful implant procedure. Dental implants require proper care just like any other tooth in your mouth to ensure long-term success.

It is possible for dental implants to last a lifetime. The most important determinant is routine check-ups and cleanings to ensure health around your implants and gums. Other important factors include home care, smoker status and living a generally healthy lifestyle.

Home care for dental implants is no different than for your teeth. The same bacteria that can cause gum disease can have an effect on dental implants. Regular check-ups and cleanings are also important.

Most patients report little, if any, pain during the procedure. If needed, we prescribe pain medication for discomfort in the first few days after treatment.

Dental implants have been in use for over 30 years and are supported by much research. Our team of Whitby Dentists are trained in the entire dental implant procedure and are able to provide these services on site in our office. The Margolian Dentistry team of dentists have a combined 37 years of experience in the dental implant field.

Dental implants may seem expensive, however, this cost needs to be considered relative to the undesirable long-term outcomes of using the alternatives. For a proper assessment of costs, we suggest you come in to our office for a free consultation.

We can eliminate the need for the covering of an upper denture on the roof of your mouth using dental implants. For the lower jaw, we can use as little as two implants to provide support so that you no longer need to use dental adhesives.

We can often place a dental implant at the same time as tooth removal. This saves the patient healing time and reduces the number of surgeries needed. We provide a variety of temporary tooth solutions during this healing period.

A bridge requires preparation of the adjacent teeth to fill the gap. Bridges are a great option when the surrounding teeth have large fillings and would benefit from full coverage by crowns as part of the bridge. However, dental implants do not rely on other teeth for their support. They are the closest we can come to giving you your natural teeth back.

No. In fact,to regain your smile, we often use less implants than the number of teeth lost. However, for single missing spaces, we often will require an implant per area. A free consultation at our office is recommended to discuss your case in person.

Each dental implant treatment case is unique. In general, the time can range anywhere from 3 months to 9months. This depends on the existing quality of the bone in which the implants are to be placed and the number of implants being placed.

You have strong muscles in your mouth, including the tongue, which can make a denture move. We can use dental implants to retain or clip your denture in place in as little as 2 to 3 hours.
