A lot of people are fearful and anxious to go to the dentist. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. And in this day and age, there are multiple options to help put someone at ease and make their visit as easy as possible.

Local Anesthesia (Freezing)

Used in the dental office every single day, and automatically included in all of our costs. We would never do anything that made a patient feel uncomfortable. Not entirely frozen? Still feeling some sensitivity? No problem, we will give you some more freezing free of charge!

Nitrous Oxide – AKA Laughing Gas!

Laughing gas has been a favourite amongst patients for years. Not only does it work extremely well, but it’s reasonably priced, there are little to no side effects, the effects of the gas don’t last beyond your appointment, and it’s covered under a number of insurance plans.

Oral Sedation (Sleeping Pill)

Oral sedation is most common amongst patients who are extremely anxious of their visit or who are having major work done and are going to be in the office for at least one hour. The sedation comes in the form of a pill that is taken 1 hour prior to your dental visit. By the time you get into the chair, all of your anxiety, stress, and apprehension is gone. Unlike the laughing gas, the effects are longer lasting, more intense, and you are not able to drive or operate machinery after taking it.

Deep Sedation (Dentistry while you sleep)

We now offer our patients the option of being completely sedated during dental surgery. AKA, you will be fully asleep! We have a licensed anesthesiologist come in to West Bowmanville Family Dental just for you! You are comfortably put to sleep for as long as is needed to complete your treatment by the dentist. It’s a great opportunity to come in and get all the work you need done in one shot! And you won’t even know it’s happening.
