How does trauma affect your teeth?

Accidents or trauma can lead to damage of the enamel and supporting tooth underneath. Impact sports while not wearing a mouth guard can leave your teeth susceptible to trauma. Sometimes accidents are not preventable and a slip or fall can be another source of trauma.

Periodontal disease also known as gum disease can slowly affect the health of your gums and surrounding jaw bone that anchors your teeth. Some common causes of gum disease include poor nutrition, bad oral hygiene, smoking and uncontrolled diabetes.
