In today’s case, a healthy 26 year old female presents with loose Maryland bridge that was previously replacing her upper left tooth which was missing from birth. A Maryland bridge is an artificial tooth that is bonded to the two teeth beside it. The most esthetic and long term solution is a single new dental implant in this area.
Minimum bone is present to the sinus floor. The sinus is a hollow area that is above the roots of upper back teeth.
When placing an implant in an area of minimum bone, we augment the sinus floor with new bone. This allow for placing an implant of adequate length.
Implant placement and final implant crown.
The patient was thrilled with the result, we no longer have to worry about food getting caught underneath the old bridge, or problems with flossing of the area underneath the bridge.
