What is the recovery like for dental implants?

We often get asked about the recovery period for dental implant procedures in Bowmanville. In general , a dental implant procedure is often easier than having a tooth removed ! The jawbone itself has very few nerve endings. Most patients only need Advil or Tylenol after the procedure. We take great care in ensuring the procedure is performed with as little trauma as possible. The number of dental implants placed by your implant dentist and technique will be big determining factors in how much pain there is after and the recovery period. Most patients at our office use a combination of oral sedative(sleeping pill) and/or laughing gas and this works quite well in making them comfortable. Sleep Dentistry Bowmanville

We often ask new patients at our practice about their last experiences. For most patients, local anesthetic or ‘freezing’ as its known is sufficient for most procedures at the dentist. For some patients, whether due to past negative experiences or dental fear, a deeper form of sedation may be required. At our office we offer options such as laughing gas (nitrous oxide) all the way to deep sedation such as sleep dentistry so you don’t have to hear or feel any of the dental noises around you! The majority of our patients choose an in between option for procedures such as dental implants and bone grafting. This is typically done with an oral sedative(pill) that is taken an hour before their visit and sometimes this is combined with the laughing gas. ┬áThis places patients in a semi sleep and they will need someone to drive them home after. Sleep dentistry…

Some implants are quick and can be placed in under an hour while certain situations require months of healing depending on the jaw bone condition. We often will provide patients with a temporary during the healing period so you can smile with confidence until your final teeth are ready. Estimates for treatment time will be given…
